Jan Broekhuizen is a Partner in Boekel's Banking & Finance
practice group. He advises a broad range of financial institutions
and non-financial corporates on financial regulatory matters. Prior
to joining Boekel in 2005, he has worked for other leading Dutch
law firms in their Amsterdam, London and New York based offices
active in the banking and financial sectors.
Jan has a broad practice in which he advises clients on the
development and documentation of their financial services,
financial products and distribution arrangements, on the regulatory
aspects of acquisitions and restructurings, on license and
exemption applications with the Dutch Financial Markets Authority
and the Dutch Central Bank, as well as on ongoing regulatory
compliance and governance requirements.
Jan is experienced in complex advisory work for clients with
public sector interests and has represented banks, supervisory
authorities and other market participants. He has also been
involved in a substantial number of innovative and complex
financial transactions and projects that require specialist
knowledge of both public law regulatory requirements and private
law, including securitisations, cross-border lease transactions,
the setting up of derivative trading facilities, and the
documenting of internet based marketing of credit card, savings
deposits and mortgage financing products.
Jan has written various articles on financial regulatory
compliance issues. He is a Member of the Dutch Bar Association, the
International Bar Association and the Dutch Association for
Securities Law.
Jan is a deputy judge at the Court of Appeals in Den Bosch, the
Netherlands. He is also a member of the board of a Dutch cultural
institution.
