  • Advisory Committee Housing & Culture publishes reflection on key environmental code version

    On 29 April last, the Housing & Culture Advisory Committee handed in its reflection on the key version of the draft environmental code to the ‘Eenvoudig Beter’ (Simply Better) Program Management. The Housing & Culture Advisory Committee, of which Anne-Marie Klijn is a member, is one of five advisory groups established in 2011 by the Minister of I&M to make practical suggestions and reflect on the new code. The purpose of the environmental code is sustainable protection of the physical environment and the people living in this environment.

  • Boekel De Nerée assists Bonaire's National Marine Park, future UNESCO world heritage site

    In the face of official advice and an environmental impact report that were both negative, the go-ahead has been given for the construction of a large-scale recreational pier in the heavily-protected Bonaire National Marine Park. This means that Bonaire, part of the Caribbean Netherlands, could be in breach of national and international regulations, including the Ramsar Convention, the Cartagena Protocol and the International Coral Reef Initiative. At the request of the Bonaire National Parks Foundation (STINIPA Bonaire), Sea Turtle Conservation Bonaire (STCB) and more than 160 stakeholders on the island, Boekel De Nerée is taking legal action against various government decisions that are making the construction of this party pier possible. The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is also supporting the proceedings.

  • Flex Act coming into effect on 1 October 2012

    The Act on simpler and more flexible laws for private limited liability companies (“Flex Act”) will come into effect on 1 October 2012. With the introduction of the Flex Act the laws related to Dutch private companies with limited liability (besloten vennootschappen met beperkte aansprakelijkheid) (“BV’s”) will be considerably amended.

  • Successful expert meeting on CO2 emission as impetus for construction

    On October 15, 2012 Boekel hosted a very interesting expert meeting of the Institute for Construction Law (IBR) on CO2 emissions trading as an incentive for sustainable construction projects. Led by partner Anne-Marie Klijn, representatives of Neprom, the Dutch Emissions Authority, the IBR and a number of independent experts in the field of CO2 emissions discussed the subject. OVG, leader in the field of sustainable construction projects in the Netherlands, was consulted in preparation for this meeting.

  • Boekel is acting as counsel to Stichting Woonzorg Nederland for its statutory merger with Stichting Horizon

    Boekel De Nerée is acting as counsel to Stichting Woonzorg Nederland (hereinafter "Woonzorg"), one of the largest housing corporations in the Netherlands, for its statutory merger with Stichting Horizon. The object of Woonzorg is to offer housing accommodation, services and serviced care to seniors and people with a disability. Due to the fact that the activities of both foundations are so closely linked, it was decided in entering into a statutory merger. In this merger, Woonzorg acted as acquiring legal entity.
