  • Proposal for new rules on Dutch law partnerships withdrawn

    The Dutch law legislation applicable to a limited partnership, as well as to a partnership (maatschap) and a general partnership (vennootschap onder firma) origins from 1838 and is highly in need of modernisation. The legislator had therefore intended to set new rules for Dutch partnerships. In September 2011, however, the Dutch Minister of Safety and Justice announced that the proposals would be withdrawn.

  • Boekel De Nerée contributes to World Bank report on women's economic inclusion

    Recently The World Bank has published its report "Women, Business and the Law: removing barriers to economic inclusion", which examines laws and regulations in various jurisdictions affecting women’s prospects as entrepreneurs and employees. Eugenie Nunes, partner Employment Law at Boekel, has contributed to this report for theNetherlands. The report’s quantitative indicators are intended to inform policy discussions and research on how to improve women’s economic inclusion.

  • Newsflash IT & IP January 2012

    On 20 June 2011, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) cleared the way for companies, governmental bodies and investors to apply for any type of Internet extension (the New Top Level Domain Program). This will open up the top level of the internet’s namespace to foster diversity, encourage competition, and enhance the utility of the domain name system.

  • New faces for Boekel's Board of Directors

    On 1 January 2012 Boekel's Board of Directors had a change of personnel and now consists of Frederieke Leeflang (partner, EU & Competition) and Paul Wanders (partner, Real Estate). Frederieke became a member of the board in September 2011, succeeding Ferdinand Mason (partner, M&A/Capital Markets), who is Head of International Strategy at the London office.

  • Newsflash CCL December 2011: Amendment to inquiry proceedings

    On 8 September, 2011 the Minister of Justice submitted a proposal to the Lower House that aims to clarify the inquiry proceedings with the Enterprise Chamber of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal (ondernemingskamer) on a number of important points.   • Boekel appoints notary to partnership

    Dutch independent Boekel De Nerée has promoted Ariën van Heesen to its partnership. The role is effective from 1 January 2012. Van Heesen is a civil-law notary, specializing in notarial issues relating to real estate as well as financing and securities. He joined Boekel in 2005.
